1. Offline Key: The key that approves high-risk operations is stored offline in an

exclusive cold storage system of Edgecoin.

2. Key generation: The key is generated, stored and managed on the Hardware Security

Module (HSM). We only use HSM, each of which is a “signer” and has reached

FIPS PUB 140-2 Level 3 or higher.

3. Dual Control (Multi-Signature): High-risk behavior requires the approval of at

least two signers (i.e. digital signatures). We use M’s N-signature design, where

M=2. This provides security and fault tolerance.

4. Time Lock: Even after approval, high-risk behavior can be locked for a period of time

before execution, which provides a period of grace to detect and preemptively respond

to a potential security event.

5. Undo: The pending action can be undone, allowing invalid or malicious actions to

become invalidated before execution.
